Landscape Design Intern Terracon is a distinguished, employee-owned, multidisciplinary firm established in 1965. With a nationwide presence of more than 200 offices and more than 8,000 employee owners, we specialize in geotechnical engineering, materials testing, inspections, environmental consulting, and facility services. In 2019, Terracon expanded its capabilities by acquiring the Environmental Planning Group, bringing experienced landscape architects and environmental planners to our team. As a result, we now offer comprehensive landscape architecture and planning services, and our studio continues to grow. We are seeking motivated interns to join our landscape architecture and planning studio in our Phoenix, Arizona, and Salt Lake City, Utah offices. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience working on a diverse array of exciting projects, including:
- Participate in active construction projects, gaining exposure to real-world building and landscape development.
- Contribute to complex downtown revitalization initiatives that enhance urban environments and community spaces.
- Engage in brownfield planning and visioning, transforming underutilized sites into vibrant, sustainable areas.
- Assist with the creation of design and construction drawings for both public and private sector clients.
- Collaborate on large-scale community planning projects that shape neighborhoods and future growth.
- Work on sustainable and SITES-certified projects, supporting environmentally responsible design practices.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support the development and refinement of construction drawings, graphics, and deliverables related to design and planning projects.
- Assist with creating standard details, templates, planting plans, irrigation layouts, materials lists, and layout plans for design and construction documents.
- Participate in reviewing quality standards for design and construction packages to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Contribute to the conceptualization of initial designs and investigative approaches for projects, working closely with the project manager and studio team.
- Help prepare planning documents for small area plans, brownfield sites, visualization projects, and community planning initiatives.
- Take an active role in promoting and leading safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with safety rules and guidelines. Demonstrate a strong understanding of Terracon's safety culture and the importance of safety both at work and at home.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited landscape architecture program as a sophomore, junior, or graduate student.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Software Knowledge:
Must be familiar with or proficient with the following software:
- LandFX
- AutoCAD
- Lumion
- Adobe products
- Microsoft products
Revit knowledge and experience would be a plus
