Summary: The Manager, Medical Strategy Operations, is part of a highly matrixed team supporting the Medical Affairs organization. This role delivers operational support such as operational planning and tracking, process improvement activities, and contracting and purchase orders for HCP and vendor engagements. In addition to delivering operational support such as planning and tracking, process improvement activities, and contracting and purchase order management for HCP and vendor engagements, this role exercises independent judgment and discretion to identify risks, resolve operational challenges, and implement scalable solutions that enhance efficiency and compliance across therapeutic areas. This role ensures compliance, operational efficiency, and seamless execution of Medical Affairs activities while serving as a strategic operational partner to Medical Affairs leadership.
Roles and Responsibilities: Medical Affairs Operational Support
- Build strong relationships with Medical Affairs leadership, Field Medical, Legal, Finance and Procurement, and external partners to drive execution excellence
- Serve as an operational advisor to Medical Affairs leadership, proactively identifying execution risks and recommending mitigation strategies
- Lead the operational planning process for Medical Affairs initiatives, including timeline development, resource coordination, and tracking of key milestones
- Collaborate cross-functionally to identify opportunities to streamline Medical Affairs processes and implement best practices
Systems and Process Management Contracting
- Serve as Medical Affairs lead and subject matter expert in the Agiloft contract management system
- Own end-to-end contract lifecycle strategy for Medical Affairs engagements, including vendors, HCPs, and consultants
- Partner with Legal to ensure timely and compliant contract execution
- Monitor contract lifecycle and maintain documentation to ensure audit readiness and alignment with internal controls
Financial Operations
- Serve as Medical Affairs lead and subject matter expert in the SAP financial system
- Partner with Finance to support annual budget planning, forecasting, and accrual management for Medical Affairs activities
- Create and track requisitions, purchase orders (POs), vendor invoicing, and monthly accruals in partnership with Finance and Procurement
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology including 2 years in a Medical Affairs or Operations related role
- Experience managing contracts, purchase orders, and vendor invoicing, familiarity with SAP preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrable project management skills; proven ability to manage multiple tasks to conclusion, within allotted timelines/deadlines, and without compromise to quality of work output
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize competing demands, and make operational decisions with limited oversight
- Strong understanding of Medical Affairs operations, compliance requirements, and cross-functional collaboration
- Demonstrated aptitude to learn new skills, systems, and software
