About the role

Balfour Beatty Investments is seeking a collaborative and experienced Subcontracts Manager to lead a team of subcontract professionals and oversee subcontract strategy, execution, and compliance across assigned projects. This role is responsible for managing workload distribution, developing and coaching talent, and approving key subcontract actions in alignment with company policies, legal requirements, and applicable regulations. The ideal candidate is a decisive and organized leader who fosters strong communication, mitigates risk, and ensures effective subcontract planning in a fastpaced, deadlinedriven environment.

What you'll be doing



  • Assign and balance workload across the subcontract team.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
  • Support professional development
  • Review and approve work products to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop subcontracting strategies that align with project and company objectives
  • Determine sourcing approaches, timelines, and negotiation plan.
  • Identify risks and mitigation strategies
  • Approve solicitation packages, evaluation criteria, and negotiation strategies
  • Oversee proposal evaluations and ensure proper documentation.
  • Ensure all required flowdowns and compliance elements are incorporated
  • Monitor subcontract actions for adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Ensure subcontract files are complete, accurate, and auditready
  • Address compliance issues and implement corrective actions where necessary
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as legal, finance, business operation and project leadership
  • Provide guidance on subcontracting best practices and risk considerations
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on subcontract performance and workload.
  • Maintain visibility into team capacity and resource needs
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement of the subcontract process, policies, and procedures.


Who we're looking for



  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 10 years work experience to include 3 years of leadership or lead responsibilities
  • Demonstrated people leadership
  • Deep understanding of subcontract lifecycle
  • Expert knowledge of subcontract negotiations, price analysis, complex terms, and risk management
  • Ability to manage multiple actions under deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to interface with suppliers, internal customers, and external customers
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel/Word)
  • Familiarity with construction project environments and/or government contracting principles is a plus

Pay Rate: $120,000 yr. - $140,000 yr.*

*This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
