Position Summary

The Parker Engineering Internship Program focuses on the development of new talent by exposing interns to the dynamic and challenging field of product engineering, manufacturing engineering, and operations. Interns will gain experience in developing innovative solutions to complex engineering and manufacturing challenges using traditional problem-solving tools, analysis methods, analytical evaluation, and hands-on validation.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Intern to join our team at the Hydraulic Pump & Motor Division (HPM) Greeneville, TN location! The Engineering Intern's projects are hands-on and will focus on both daily challenges and long-term improvement projects on products, components and processes. You will walk away from this internship with a better understanding of how to analyze a problem, provide potential solutions, implement changes, and validate those changes. Various methods will be used to determine potential design changes or improvements, and ultimately how to apply and validate those changes using data driven decisions. You will also get to experience the day-to-day workings of an engineering department that is integral to the success of one of the largest manufacturing facilities within Parker Hannifin.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all safety requirements.
  • Assist in the design, development, and improvement of products and processes under the guidance of the engineering team
  • Participate in identifying and solving equipment, product, or system issues, applying both theoretical and practical knowledge
  • Work closely with other departments such as production, quality, and maintenance to ensure proper implementation of technical solutions
  • Participates in/and coordinates prototype builds as necessary to support customer opportunities and business improvement projects
  • Actively works with engineers to review test requirements and test setups
  • Other responsibilities as assigned or needed
  • Communicate results of technical inquiry to team members, providing documentation for future reference.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or advanced degree program in an engineering field.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and analytical to review data to recommend practical solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others and be a collaborative team member.
  • Proficiency in MS Office - Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • Presentation and facilitation skills preferred.
  • Experience with 3D CAD modelling and engineering drawings preferred.
