- Responsible for effective installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of large systems software and related infrastructure.
- Ensures operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values.
- Takes a more active role in leading project efforts and resolving problems.
- Provides direction to less experienced staff.
- Participate in project work in cross-functional teams; lead technical team within a project and provide input into design of efforts.
- Attend vendor sponsored conferences as a representative of the Bank to seek out industry technology to utilize at the Bank.
- Provide training to less experienced personnel.
- Complete maintenance activity, including patching, health checks, operating system updates, validation of changes and maintenance of operational and configuration standards following standard operating procedures.
- Research options when anomalies occur and choose best course of action.
- Schedule maintenance changes to reduce operational risk.
- Provide after hour support as required for project implementations or responding to incidents.
- Participate with permanent resolution identification and implementation.
- Initiate, create and document procedures for maintenance tasks and other needs; provide direction with documentation to less experienced staff.
- Use tools to help automate processes and make systems more efficient, manageable, available, and secure.
- Participate with capacity planning discussions; complete capacity planning reporting following standard operating procedures.
- Respond to and resolve incidents work with vendor to identify and implement fix.
- Use advanced diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues.
- Provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues resolve problems within established practices.
- Create trending information of system issues and work with partner teams to clarify variables.
- Complete expert problem-solving of technical incidents based on knowledge of system and adjoining systems.
- Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite.
- Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the client Bank brand.
- Maintain client internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting capabilities, including dump analysis, abend review, and diagnostic tooling
- Strong hands-on expertise with SMP/E installation, deployment, and maintenance processes.
- Install, configure, and maintain mainframe software products using SMP/E, including applying maintenance (PTFs, APARs), managing zones, and ensuring environment compatibility.
- Deploy and support a broad suite of ISV tools including PanValet, PanAPT, CA7, CA11, Datacom, Abend Aid, Xpediter, SYSBII, Syncsort, VPS, DRS, PGP, Easytrieve, PKZIP, and VSAM Assist.
- Support core z/OS infrastructure components, including JES2, ISPF, and TSO/E.
- Monitor and tune system performance using tools such as SMF, RMF, and related diagnostic utilities.
- Troubleshoot system and product issues using abend analysis, dump review, and structured problem-solving methods.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery exercises to ensure platform resiliency and audit readiness.
- Support IPL procedures, parameter updates, software migrations, and environment stabilization activities.
- Collaborate with application teams, operations, security, and audit partners across SDLC phases.
- Maintain technical documentation including installation guides, configuration standards, system diagrams, and operations references.
- Follow all client SDLC, Change Management, Risk, and Information Security requirements.

Required skills:
- High school Diploma or GED
- Minimum 6 years of experience in reading and digesting technical information
- Minimum 6 years of Proven experience leading technical teams toward a common goal or project within a larger project.

- Minimum 5 years of experience in z/OS Systems Programmer or equivalent mainframe engineering role.

- Practical experience with CA7/CA11 scheduling tools.
- Working knowledge of key z/OS subsystems such as CICS, DB2, and USS/zFS.
- Proficiency with diagnostic and performance tools including SMF, RMF, IPCS, and SDSF.
- Ability to develop or maintain scripts using REXX, CLIST, or similar scripting languages.
- Background supporting high availability or disaster recovery environments, including experience with Sysplex architectures.
- Hands on experience with GDPS operations, particularly for multi-site resiliency or coordinated recovery workflows.
- Comfort working within agile delivery methods, including use of tools such as JIRA.
- Experience in regulated or compliance driven industries (financial services).
- Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation using modern platforms (OneNote, Confluence).
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently within a large, formal enterprise environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to procedural discipline.
- Solid understanding of z/OS architecture, Parallel Sysplex, utilities, subsystems, and operational best practices.
- Familiarity with ACF2 or RACF security frameworks.
- Ability to participate in a 24O7 on call rotation.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
