Senior Environmental Support TechnicianThe Senior Environmental Support Technician works closely with fisheries biologists to monitor adult salmon and steelhead upstream of the Pelton Round Butte Hydroelectric Project. This position supports research and field operations through data collection, equipment maintenance, and a variety of monitoring activities. Core responsibilities include conducting spawning redd surveys for Redband Trout, summer steelhead, spring Chinook, and Bull Trout; downloading and maintaining radiofixed monitoring stations throughout the basin; and performing mobile tracking of radiotagged adult salmon and steelhead by vehicle, boat, or on foot. Fieldwork may require hiking into remote areas to locate and track fish. The role requires the ability to work independently in challenging outdoor conditions and communicate effectively with team members. Additional duties include assisting fishfacility operations, water quality and terrestrial projects as needed. Key Job Information Senior Environmental Support Technician 6199 Grade 5 Has developed proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience Completes a variety of atypical assignments, as needed Works within defined processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments Key Responsibilities Performs less routine aspects of assignments related to environmental studies, projects and programs. Performs complex field work and data analysis. Independently conducts field surveys, such as data collection, soil sampling, fish collection, field monitoring and water-quality sampling. May start to expand knowledge in other technical areas. Maintains, calibrates and services related field equipment. Enters data from various field studies into electronic spreadsheets and databases. Conducts quality checks and prepares data summaries. Assists with preparation of reports. Provides oversight and direction to Technician I under fieldwork conditions Assists Environmental Services employees in other department activities as needed. Coordinates communication for fieldwork and related fieldwork schedules. Coordinates and assembles equipment. Safety Practices Adheres to PGE standards, safety objectives and regulatory requirements. Education/Experience/Certifications: Education High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree in related area preferred, such as fisheries or aquatic science. Experience Typically four or more years in related field. Compensation Range: $29.78 - $49.64Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity.
