Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Practice Support Assistant for our Public Finance Group. This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices and consideration given for 100% remote US locations.

What Will I do: The Practice Group Support Assistant's primary responsibility will be reviewing and categorizing incoming emails, identifying urgent messages and flagging action items for follow-up. Their goal is to help public finance lawyers reduce email overwhelm, ensure important messages are prioritized and improve response times. The role will also involve scheduling meetings based on information received via email. The Practice Group Support Assistant will work closely with lawyers, staff and clients, requiring adaptability and strong prioritization to support the dynamic needs of a high-volume law practice.


Responsibilities

  • Manage, organize, and optimize email inboxes for efficiency and productivity
  • Assist lawyers with inbox decluttering, set up email rules or automations, and maintain organized digital filing systems for easy access to important correspondence
  • Ensure timely, accurate correspondence to help maintain the efficiency and reputation of the firm
  • Extensive calendar and schedule management
  • Assistance with marketing and business development initiatives
  • Generate drafts of correspondence, forms and contracts
  • General secretarial and administrative tasks
  • Assist partners with personal tasks and communications as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year institution or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion
  • Experience in managing high-volume email communications
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook) and the applications they integrate with
  • Proven ability to be flexible to changing workloads and schedules
  • Willingness to learn and use AI in connection with the performance of appropriate task

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is:

  • New York City, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco $50,000 - $75,000
  • Washington DC, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica, Sacramento, Boston, and Seattle $47,000 - $75,000
  • All Other US Locations $46,000 - $68,000

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
