THE ROLE:

The DSP Specialist FAE will be responsible for DSP based designs supporting our AMD Embedded customers. This is a remote position and the applicant can be in any US city as long as they have access to an airport within reasonable distance, preferably in the Southwestern US. The Specialist FAE is responsible for DSP related technical interaction with our customers and factory experts to maximize our AMD Embedded solutions presence in our customer systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide deep technical expertise for diverse applications such as RADAR, EW, communications, image processing, etc.
  • Provide deep technical support and training to customers in their selection and use of AMD DSP development tools, silicon and IP products that ensure success
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance that focuses on design win strategies for all customer opportunities
  • Analyze customer needs, compare and contrast AMD Embedded and competitive solutions to maximize the customers use of our products
  • Collaborate with field and factory resources to develop and deliver technical proposals to customer project managers, engineering managers, system architects and design engineers
  • Code and implement convincing proof of concept DSP designs to demonstrate efficient use of AMD technology and competitive advantages to secure design wins
  • Create new or use existing presentation and demonstration material to craft and deliver presentations and demos on AMD Embedded products, tools, and methodologies that align with customers' needs
  • Provide regular feedback to our internal management and factory experts on the needs of the customer base

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Proven industry experience with DSP based architecture definition, design, and support (FPGA silicon design knowledge a plus)
  • In depth knowledge of EDA tools for DSP designs.
    • Experience with Matlab, Simulink, etc. required
    • Understanding of Vivado and Vitis preferred
  • In depth knowledge of DSP design - examples include multi-rate processing, super sample rate techniques, FIR, FFT, DUC, DDC, matrix math, etc.
  • Fundamental knowledge of VHDL or Verilog design for ASIC and FPGA a plus
  • Understanding of both hardware and software development process for FPGA-based SoCs
  • Experience with C or C++ required
    • TCL, OpenCL and/or Python experience is a plus
  • Fundamental knowledge of Machine Learning, DNN, CNN is a plus
  • Embedded processor knowledge is a plus
  • Technical knowledge of GPU and CPU architectures and tradeoffs is a plus
  • ROCm or CUDA experience is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong presentations skills, and the ability to work with multiple groups
  • Willingness to learn, research, and engage in areas where applicant is not already well versed

LOCATIONS:

San Diego, CA but can be flexible in Southwestern US

(Hybrid / Onsite as required for customer and lab engagements)
