As a Maintenance Mechanic you are responsible for a wide range of activities in the area of overall Plant and Facilities maintenance. The position requires the ability to be flexible, self-directed and have an understanding of production requirements in a service orientated company. The main focus of the position is to keep the production and material handling equipment safely maintained to maximize efficiency, ensure a safe operation and ensure on time delivery of product. Assistance with Capital Project/new equipment planning, dealing with vendors for parts and services are also a requirement. Roles and Responsibilities Always works in a safe and efficient manner Repairs and maintains plant equipment in an efficient manner on a daily basis Creates and utilizes preventive maintenance program and keeps files up-to-date Helps to eliminate machine downtime Coordinates outside maintenance services as required Orders parts as required to keep equipment operating in a safe/efficient basis Follows all Company ISO policies and procedures Keeps work areas clean and organized All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice Requirements High School Diploma or GED required 1-3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably steel processing Working knowledge of electricity, welding & burning, hydraulic repair PLC knowledge and understanding Machine repair, crane repair, preventive maintenance programs Must be able to read blueprints and also order parts and supplies Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding Ryerson Canada is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
