| Primary Purpose of the Organization: |
The Division of Student Affairs seeks to enhance student growth, foster an equitable and inclusive environment, develop an institutional atmosphere in which student academic and personal success are encouraged and fostered, and provide outstanding services, programs, and facilities that enrich the student experience from orientation through graduation and that supports the university mission. The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs is a member of the Chancellor's Cabinet and is responsible for policy, long-range planning, budget, personnel, and coordination of the Student Affairs departments, which encompasses the Counseling and Personal Development, Intramural & Recreational Sports, Office of Residence Life & Housing, Office of Student Activities & Student Engagement, Rudolph Jones Student Center, Office of Student Conduct, and Office of Case Management, Student Health Services. Additionally, the Division is responsible for coordinating New Student Orientation, facilitating Broncos, Helping Broncos, and operating the
FSU Food Pantry. The Division of Student Affairs is a multi-faceted operation 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, managing twelve university facilities, 60 full-time, 20 temporary, and 70 student employees with a total annual budget of $16 million. Additionally, the Division of Student Affairs manages substantial risks associated with facilities, student organizations, student health, and student conduct issues. As a result, the Division has high volumes of work and inquiries and, therefore, is a highly demanding and often confidential work environment. |
| Primary Purpose of the Position: |
The Case Manager will promote holistic student wellness by providing early support and follow-up for complex situations involving students of concern. This position supports student learning and development by assuming a primary role in the assessment, referral, and case management of various student issues, including health and mental health emergencies. The Case Manager is a member of the Office of the Dean of Students staff, reporting directly to the Director of Case Management. The Case Manager will monitor students and develop action plans to facilitate referrals to and off-campus resources. In addition, the Case Manager will assist with planning programs, training, and workshops for faculty, staff, and students that support holistic student development and success. |
| Minimum Education And Experience Requirements: |
A Master's degree or higher in counseling, social work, student personnel administration, higher education administration, or a related field is required. |
| Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: |
- Demonstrated knowledge of community-based mental health and substance abuse resources and experience coordinating services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of consultation, outreach, crisis intervention, and management; knowledge of developmental characteristics of late adolescence and young adulthood and the unique difficulties confronting individuals in these stages of life.
- Establish a commitment to multicultural competencies.
- Ability to express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written form.
- Personal attributes that facilitate effective interpersonal relations and the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, and community partners.
