About the Role:

The Dump Truck Driver plays a critical role in the construction industry by safely transporting materials such as soil, gravel, sand, and debris to and from construction sites. This position requires operating heavy-duty dump trucks with precision and care to ensure timely delivery and removal of materials, which directly impacts project efficiency and safety. The driver must adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while maintaining the vehicle in optimal condition. Effective communication and the ability to follow detailed instructions are essential to coordinate with site managers and other team members. Ultimately, the Dump Truck Driver contributes to the smooth progress of construction projects by ensuring materials are handled and transported reliably and responsibly.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating dump trucks.
  • Proven experience driving heavy-duty trucks in a construction or similar environment.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols consistently.
  • Basic knowledge of truck maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Strong physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks related to loading and unloading.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience specifically as a dump truck driver within the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with local and state transportation regulations beyond CDL requirements.
  • Certification in safety training programs such as OSHA or DOT compliance.
  • Experience using GPS and route planning software to optimize delivery schedules.
  • Ability to perform minor mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate dump trucks to transport construction materials to and from job sites safely and efficiently.
  • Follow detailed instructions regarding routes, schedules, and material handling requirements.
  • Perform routine truck maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials as needed, ensuring proper securing of loads during transit.

Skills:

The required skills such as following instructions and CDL driving are essential for safely navigating construction sites and public roads while adhering to project timelines. Pulling objects and truck maintenance skills ensure that the driver can manage the vehicle's load securely and maintain the truck's operational condition, minimizing downtime. These skills are applied daily to inspect the vehicle, plan routes, and communicate effectively with site supervisors to meet delivery requirements.
