Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Director of Administration within the Office of Human Research Services (
OHRS) at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
The Director of Administration provides strategic leadership and comprehensive oversight for all operational aspects of administrative clinical research services at Rutgers Cancer Institute. This role is responsible for fostering a culture of innovation, driving process improvements, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency, and facilitating the growth of the Institute's clinical research portfolio. The position directly manages a significant infrastructure supporting human subject research and plays a key role in achieving the Rutgers Cancer Institute's overall quality research objectives and mission. This individual will lead and mentor a team of professionals, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and contributing to the Institute's national and international standing in cancer research.
Areas of oversight include
OHRS Administration, Clinical Trials Finance, Clinical Trial Informatics, Professional Development, Quality Assurance and Data Monitoring, Protocol Review and Monitoring Systems (
SRB), Regulatory Affairs, and
GMP Quality Control/Quality Assurance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Strategic Leadership and Innovation: Spearheads developing and implementing strategic initiatives designed to enhance current and future clinical research services. This includes identifying opportunities for innovation in research methodologies, optimizing workflows for improved efficiency, and ensuring the scalability of the clinical research infrastructure to support the Institute's growth. The Director will work collaboratively with other leaders to align clinical research strategies with the overall mission and quality objectives of the Rutgers Cancer Institute. Oversight of the Human Subjects Research Administrative Infrastructure: The Director will oversee the critical infrastructure supporting human subjects' research. This encompasses the leadership and management of the following key functional areas: OHRS Administration, Professional Development, Quality Assurance and Data Monitoring, Clinical Trial Finances, Clinical Trial Informatics, Protocol Review and Monitoring System, Regulatory Affairs, and GMP Quality Control/Quality Assurance. Direction of Clinical Research Activities: The Director will be responsible for the strategic and operational direction of all finance, regulatory affairs, data management, informatics, education, quality assurance, and data monitoring activities for adult and pediatric clinical research. This includes setting clear objectives, developing performance metrics, and ensuring that these activities are conducted efficiently and in accordance with defined standards and timelines. Objective Setting and Performance Management: This role involves developing and managing both short-term and long-term personal and departmental objectives that directly address key performance indicators related to service delivery, research quality, and financial performance with the OHRS. The Director will track progress towards these objectives and implement strategies to ensure their achievement. Grant Reporting and Renewals: The Director will be responsible for producing or coordinating the production of critical annual reports and renewals, particularly the Clinical Protocol Data Management (CPDM) and Protocol Review and Monitoring (PRMS) sections of the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG).Contributes to writing the annual progress reports and renewal submissions for other significant research grants, such as those from the National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) and the Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network (ETCTN).

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Master's degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in scientific academic health care, preferably in oncology.
- Three (3) years of relevant professional work experience involving the review of budget, organization, administrative practices, computer applications in a large health care or education environment, or government agency.
- At least three years of experience shall have been at the supervisory level.

- Demonstrates ability to think strategically and apply broad concepts in practice.
