About the Position

This Washington, D.C. based position supports the development of regulatory and business strategies that enable the company to influence federal energy policy and advance transmission infrastructure solutions consistent with Ameren's mission to power the quality of life. The role represents the company before federal regulators, various trade associations, and regional transmission organization (RTO) stakeholder meetings.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Work in close partnership with the Vice President of Federal Regulatory Affairs to represent Ameren's viewpoints and policy priorities.

  • Provide leadership and collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop Ameren's regulatory positions and strategies for constructive rate and tariff filings and pleadings.

  • Drive internal consensus on policy matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC or Commission), including return on equity, transmission planning, generator interconnection, capacity markets, and large load interconnection.

  • Represent the company in RTO stakeholder committees to influence outcomes and educate internal teams.

  • Lead compliance efforts including management of compliance tools and preparation of ongoing FERC regulatory filings such as marketbased rate updates.

  • Monitor FERC issuances, ensure timely interventions and comments, and prepare internal analyses of Commission actions.

  • Build and maintain industry and governmental relationships, including with FERC and the Department of Energy (DOE).

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required, preferably in engineering, economics, public policy, or related energy discipline. Minimum seven (7) years of relevant experience (e.g., federal energy regulation, RTO/ISO markets, energy policy) required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing and analyzing federal rate, tariff, and market issues.

  • Direct experience implementing or complying with the Commission's electric and/or natural gas regulations.

  • Participation in stakeholder forums, technical conferences or other similar advocacy settings.

  • Knowledge of the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc. (MISO), Southwest Power Pool (SPP) or Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland Interconnection (PJM) stakeholder processes and respective transmission tariff and wholesale market rules.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop consensus positions.

  • Ability to independently conduct primary research and draw initial conclusions.

  • Increased responsibility over time.

  • Commitment to working collaboratively and respectfully in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Information

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$131,900.00 - $204,400.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
