Mott MacDonald is excited to invite talented professionals to join our dynamic and rapidly growing tunnel team. We are currentlyseekingadaptable and highly motivated civil, geotechnical, or structural engineers in the NY/NJ region to serve as Project Engineer within our tunnels resource group. This role centers on underground design and construction projects,providingthe opportunity to contribute tocutting-edgework in the transportation and water/wastewater sectors. Experience in these areas is highly valued. As a Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions for challenging infrastructure assignments, working alongside a collaborative team ofgeo-structural expertswho are committed to excellence.

Responsibilities include:



  • Support the delivery of our existing portfolio of tunnelling projects in the U.S. and Canada.





  • Oversight of staff and execution of field investigation programs to collect data for use in design, conditionassessmentsand the preparation of Reports;





  • Contribution to detailed analyses for our projects involving tunnels and underground structures





  • Development of field instrumentation programs and evaluation of collected data;





  • Management of staff producing design solutions, reports, and contributions to/reviews of specifications and drawings;





  • Writingreports for submission to clients, including design-related technical memoranda and Reports;





  • Direct client engagement working with guidance fromseniormanagement; including liaising with clients, responding to queries, and attending design and progress meetings.





  • Contribution to and preparation of proposals for submission to clients;





  • Ability to lay out/develop a design program and independently manage a teamof staff;





  • Managing and mentoring junior/graduate engineers and supporting their development;



Candidate Specification

We'relooking for aProject Engineer to join our team and invite applications from candidates with:



  • Bachelors in civil, structural or geotechnical engineering isrequiredand aMastersin a related field is preferred.





  • Professional engineer (PE) license in New Jersey,New Yorkor ability to obtain a license within 12 months;





  • NCTI Certified is preferred.





  • 5-8years of experience in engineering consultancy (not including education), experience in New York preferred;





  • Proficient in the use of structural software: STRAND7, SAP,STAADor equivalent.






  • Proficient in the use of geotechnical software, this may includePlaxis, GeoStudio packages/Slide,Rocsciencepackages, geotechnical data management (GINT/Holebase). A working knowledge of BIM tools (Bentley/Autodesk) would also beadvantageous.





  • Demonstratable record in design with experience in geotechnicalengineering ,ground characterization for soil and rock and a working knowledge of concrete,steeland foundation design





  • Strong references from past managers or clients;





  • Interest in underground design and construction for the transport, waterorwastewaterSectorsand multidisciplinary working experience would also beadvantageous.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

The expected salary for this position is

NY: $108,000 - $132,000.

NJ: $103,000 - $126,000.
