Role Summary The Product Specification Writer supports Itron's customer and manufacturing operations by analyzing customer specifications and generating the documentation required to ensure accurate product configuration and production readiness. This role collaborates closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Field Operations, and Marketing to maintain product documentation, manage change control processes, and support new product introductions. With a focus on accuracy, crossfunctional partnership, and customerfocused execution in the energy and utilities sector, this role plays a key part in ensuring Itron delivers reliable, highquality solutions to our customers. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Analyze customer specification forms and generate accurate documentation for Manufacturing, including meter specifications, bills of material (BOMs), and customer record aids, supporting customercentric product delivery.
  • Enter and maintain part numbers, BOMs, and routings in Oracle Cloud and Oracle EBS Item Master, demonstrating accountability for data accuracy.
  • Write and process Change Control Orders (CCOs), developing a working knowledge of Oracle Cloud and related tools used to manage configuration changes.
  • Coordinate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Field Operations, Marketing, and other stakeholders to ensure product changes, enhancements, and new product configurations are properly documented and implemented.
  • Review customer specification forms to confirm product combinations and configurations are feasible, available, and aligned with customer requirements.
  • Generate BOMs associated with customerspecific part numbers and manage setup documentation with agility and consistency.
  • Develop and maintain customer record aids while gaining proficiency in the customer record aids database.
  • Upload customer configuration files and collaborate with Marketing and Engineering to ensure requested combinations and product functionality are supported for new or existing offerings.
  • Maintain all documents and files associated with customer and/or sales requests in an organized and compliant manner.
  • Read, generate, and proof prints and specifications for distribution to Manufacturing, ensuring clarity and production readiness.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline documentation processes and enhance operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 0-1 years of related professional experience.
  • Associate degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail and accountability for documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams in an agile, fastpaced environment.
  • Customerfocused mindset with strong communication skills and a willingness to learn new tools and processes.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud and/or Oracle EBS.
  • Experience working with bills of material, engineering documentation, or change control processes.
  • Understanding of manufacturing workflows or product configuration processes within a technology or energy/utilityfocused environment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new systems, priorities, and crossfunctional requirements.
