JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Department of Campus Recreation is seeking individuals to fill the position of Grounds/Maintenance Worker at Stone Valley Recreation Area.

Grounds/Maintenance Workers are responsible for maintaining the facilities and grounds of Stone Valley Recreation Area. Main functions of the position include providing general grounds keeping and cleaning services at Stone Valley Recreation Area including mow and trim lawn areas; operate trucks, tractors, powered ground equipment, and pneumatic tools; remove brush, leaves, grass clippings, paper and debris from grounds; may perform minor repairs; assist moving furniture, equipment, and materials; moping, sweeping, and cleaning floors; operating powered janitorial equipment. MVR Check Required. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation and have access to a reliable form of transportation. Positions are mostly seasonal in nature with the primary hours available from April through October. Applicants must be able to work varied hours including days, evening, weekends, and holidays as necessary. Hiring preference will be given to Penn State University Park students and we will build your work schedule around your class schedule.

Campus Recreation is a department within Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellbeing, and recreational programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the Intramural Building, the McCoy Natatorium, the 700-acre Stone Valley Outdoor Recreation Area, a Tennis Center including six clay courts and four indoor courts, the White Building, Outdoor Adventures, Aquatic Programs, Fitness and Wellbeing Programs, Club Sports, and Intramural Sports.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
