Responsibilities

Peraton is looking for a Field Service Technician to support a contract onsite in Washington, DC. This role is responsible for the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Layer 1 structured cabling systems supporting network infrastructure and end-user devices. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with copper and fiber cabling, strong technical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in field environments.

Peraton has served as the prime contractor for this program since its inception in the 1980's. We provide high-level government leaders with reliable secure voice, video, and fax communications anytime, anywhere, in any environment in support of day-to-day operations. We support a secure, worldwide, high-performance communications network comprised of real-time interactive applications allowing complex national and worldwide communications. Peraton provides the O&M of the network infrastructure and its components. We provide integration for development of hardware and software solutions, and engineering support for the delivery of system, network, software, and security solutions.

The Field Service Technician is responsible for but not limited to:

    Install, terminate, label, and test structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic).
  • Perform installation and Layer 1 support for:
    • Network devices (routers, switches)
    • VoIP phones
    • Workstations and peripherals
    • Wireless access points (WAPs)
    • Print devices
  • Install patch panels, racks, cable trays, and related hardware.
  • Perform cable certification and testing using appropriate testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve physical connectivity issues.
  • Read and interpret network diagrams, blueprints, and cable layouts.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations and service work.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Travel to customer sites as required.
  • Provide professional communication and support to clients and internal teams.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An active/current TS/SCI Security Clearance is required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience in equipment installation and delivery with a strong understanding of IT equipment.
  • Strong organizational and communications skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders or in confined spaces.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Desired Qualifications:

  • BICSI certification.
  • Experience with fiber optic termination and testing.
  • Familiarity with cable certification tools (Fluke or equivalent).
  • Previous experience supporting a government and/or Department of Defense customer.

Target Salary Range

$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
