Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the movement of product in connection with receiving, storing, staging, and distribution functions by means of forklift, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or other means.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Promotes safety by following all plant safety rules and reports violations and unsafe practices to the logistics supervisor.
  • Promotes GMP policy and product safety.
  • Reads schedules, pick list, packing list, and/or material requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed, staged and/or loaded.
  • Pulls stock for customer orders and loads trucks by hand or forklift.
  • Checks customer orders for accuracy and completeness.
  • Records movement activity accordingly.
  • Promotes and supports the Total Quality Management process within the department.
  • Participates in cycle counting and maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Prepares Bills of Lading and processes shipping documents.
  • Able to work safely and follow safety rules
  • Responsible for ensuring trailer jacks are in place when trailer is placed.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety signs within the facility.
  • Follows PPE policy on the production floor at all times; such as: steel toed shoes, ear plugs, hair nets, beard nets and safety glasses.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High school Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Previous forklift experience preferred. Able to demonstrate good hand/eye coordination in relation to operating forklift. Must know and follow all GMP/SQF/ISO procedures.
  • Leadership: Embodies plant wide commitment to safety, quality, efficiency, cost management; acts as a role model for other employees.
  • Functional/Technical Skills: Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment. Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; shares expertise with others.
  • Business Acumen: Understands business implications of decisions.
  • Organizational Support: Supports organization's goals and values; promotes quality and safe work habits.
  • Team Work: Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers in a positive and constructive manner to achieve the goals of the department and business.
  • Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Planning and Organizing: Uses time efficiently and prioritizes assignments.
  • Software: Able to access and understand DcLink, JDE and QSI database.

DESIRED PROFILE:

  • Must be able to pass and maintain forklift certification.
  • Must remain accident free.
  • Good attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand directions/instructions given in English.
  • Must have basic math skills
  • Able to work overtime on any shift on short notice
  • Able to lift boxes weighing up to 50lbs.
