Procurement Assistant:

The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) was established in 1974 to better respond to the County's need for affordable housing. HOC is authorized to acquire, own, lease, and operate housing; to provide for the construction or renovation of housing; obtain financial assistance from any public or private source to assist its housing activities; and arrange for social services, resident services, and daycare.

Description:

This position is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Procurement Division. Must have extensive knowledge of office and procurement procedures. Work directly with HOC clients, vendors, contractors, landlords, general population, and HOC staff. Process letters, memos and other correspondence. Act as back-up/support for other administrative and Procurement staff. Produce documents/reports, design documents, maintain files, review and process certificate of insurance, review and process trade licenses, process purchase orders, perform data entry, and other procurement-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

  • At least three years of administrative or clerical experience

Education:

  • Requires High School diploma or equivalent.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Low income residents in Montgomery County with the above qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of office and procurement policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic insurance requirements preferred.
  • Good data entry, customer service skills, and good oral and written communication skills needed.
  • High level proficiency with all Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.
  • Time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Yardi preferred.

* Salary Range: Grade 16- Min: $51,435 - Mid: $67,024 Max: $82,263 | Salary determined by departmental budget- Offer commensurate with experience.
