Interested in implementing your project management and leadership skills in a Public Safety setting? The METCAD Deputy Director plays a critical role in day-to-day operations of 9-1-1 emergency response.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

The METCAD Deputy Director oversees and manages Technical Services Division and is responsible for the effective operation, upgrade, and maintenance of all technical systems and physical plant utilized by METCAD. This position assists with functions such as general department administration including policy analysis, program evaluation, budget preparation, and management of special projects.

Expected duties include:

  • Assisting the METCAD Director in staff supervision, budget preparation, policy development and other special projects.
  • Overseeing projects and technologies that improve METCAD operations such as 9-1-1 networks, computer aided dispatch (CAD) systems, and other facility improvements.
  • Responding to METCAD facilities to support emergency response.

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, information technology, or related degree.
  • Progressively responsible work experience in administration and supervision of employees.
  • Experience with project management, including but not limited to project planning, implementation, and coordination.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations which may occur outside of regularly scheduled work hours including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Professional 9-1-1 related certifications from Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) and/or National Emergency Number Association (NENA).
  • Experience working within a 9-1-1 facility or general knowledge of 9-1-1 infrastructure.
  • Experience working with public safety agencies, local government agencies and/or public officials at an administrative level.
  • Experience with public records management.
  • Experience with negotiating and administering contracts.
  • Experience with preparing and administering budgets.

Drug screening and criminal background check will be required. The annual starting salary range is $97,362- $110,837 DOQ, plus an excellent fringe benefits package. Applications, including cover letter and resume, must be submitted online no later than Sunday, March 8, 2026.
