Overview

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment including motors, pumps, turbines, valves, and circuit breakers.
  • Oversee fabrication and repair activities involving fine machining, welding, burning, and bolting applications.
  • Train personnel in equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and applicable design or modeling software platforms.
  • Supervise union personnelincluding Designers and Mechanicsin the planning, design, fabrication, and enhancement of electrical infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure all work adheres to required codes, standards, and governing procedures (ASME, DOB, DOT, AISC, etc.).
  • Utilize engineering design software such as Autodesk, Trimble, or equivalent to develop accurate and detailed shop drawings for fabrication.
  • Ensure daily safety of all direct reports while monitoring work quality, productivity, and providing performancebased coaching.
  • Incorporate Human Performance Improvement (HPI) tools into daily work planning and execution.
  • Conduct OntheJob Training (OJT), effective job briefings, and documented safety inspections; ensure staff attendance for all required training.
  • Promote adherence to the Way We Work Principles, Standards of Business Conduct, and Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) requirements.
  • Foster positive morale within the facility, support employee concerns professionally, and encourage a safe, inclusive, and productive workplace culture.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Zero Accident Culture, Operational Excellence, costeffective work practices, and enhancing customer experience while performing additional related tasks as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Engineering Technology and 2 years relevant technical experience or
  • Associate's Degree Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Engineering Technology and 4 years relevant technical experience or
  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years relevant technical experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Civil or Electrical and 2 years relevant technical experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and analyze tasks to develop detailed estimates and schedules for construction projects is required.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable codes such as ACI, AISC, NESC, ASCE, NYC Building Code, etc. is required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team to make sound technical and business decisions is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Organization, ability to balance priorities, handle multiple assignments, develop a strategic plan and take decisive action to meet deadlines, required.
  • Experience interacting with stakeholders, both internal and external to the Company during normal and emergency conditions, preferred.
  • Work experience in the Engineering field related to the Electric, Gas and Steam systems and associated equipment, preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of construction work associated with facilities such as Substations and or Generating Stations, preferred.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to respond to system emergencies
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, and/or other equipment
  • Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
  • Possess the capacity to free climb ladders up to 475 feet in height
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
  • Work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Work with equipment with a manufacturer weight rating of 350lbs
  • Use equipment with a maximum weight rating of 375lbs when wearing and/or carrying 25lbs of clothing and equipment
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
