Continuous Improvement Coordinator (Entry Level)

Job Summary
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Coordinator (Co-op/Intern) supports Operational Excellence initiatives within a manufacturing environment by applying Lean principles and structured problem solving methodologies. Reporting to the Site Operational Excellence Manager, this role assists in planning, executing, and sustaining improvements generated from rapid improvement and Kaizen events. The position provides hands on experience with manufacturing processes, cross functional collaboration, and performance improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and inventory. Job Responsibilities
Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to support plant performance improvements and embed continuous improvement principles into daily operations
Collaborate with operations, manufacturing engineering, and quality teams to support improvement initiatives
Assist in planning and executing rapid improvement and Kaizen events
Participate in root cause investigations and structured problem solving activities
Support implementation of process changes and updates to manufacturing documentation and standard work
Create and maintain statistical process control charts and related performance tracking tools
Track action items from improvement events to ensure timely completion and sustainability
Support employee training on Lean tools and reinforce continuous improvement concepts
Contribute to the analysis of operational metrics related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and inventory
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in a full time accredited bachelor's degree program
Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
Must meet U.S. person requirements in accordance with applicable export control regulations
Must reside within commuting distance of Beltsville, Maryland; relocation assistance is not provided
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including virtual communication
Ability to create and deliver presentations
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Education
Bachelor's degree in progress or completed; preferred fields include Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or other related technical disciplines
Work Experience
Prior internship, academic project work, or exposure to manufacturing or continuous improvement environments preferred
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing concepts preferred
