Job Summary:

The Quality Control Visual Inspector is responsible for the visual inspection and verification of mechanical, piping, and welding-related installation activities. This role primarily supports high-purity industrial projects, such as semiconductor tool hookups and cleanroom piping, ensuring all work complies with strict ASME piping codes and customer-specific requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough visual testing (VT) of welded, brazed, and mechanical joints (including Victaulic, flanges, and fittings) to ensure structural and functional integrity.

  • Verify pipe fit-up, alignment, cleanliness, and overall workmanship for high-purity process piping, clean utilities, and HVAC mechanical systems.

  • Ensure all installations comply with project specifications, semiconductor customer standards, and applicable ASME piping codes (e.g., B31.3, B31.9).

  • Review and maintain critical fabrication and installation logs, including weld maps, fit-up logs, brazing logs, and torque records.

  • Identify nonconforming workmanship and initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) via construction management platforms such as OpenSpace.

  • Participate in pressure tests, system walkdowns, punch-list inspections, and pre-turnover verification.

  • Perform inspections on material and equipment site deliveries to verify they meet order specifications.

  • This position does not qualify welders or brazers, approve WPS/PQR, serve as CWI of record, or approve repairs or deviations.

  • Other responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.

Position Requirements (Work Experience, Skills, Licenses, etc.):

  • Ability to read and interpret Isometrics, P&IDs, shop drawings, and technical inspection reports.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of weld and braze acceptance criteria.
  • Familiarity with mechanical piping systems and semiconductor cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems in support of organizational objectives.
  • Strong team player, approachable, and shares information effectively to achieve common goals.

  • Proactive approach to recognizing necessary tasks and accomplishing them with minimal supervision

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Current ASNT VT Level II certification.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 3+ years of experience in construction or fabrication quality control

  • 1-2 years' experience in cleanroom piping, process utilities, or high-purity/semiconductor projects.

  • Ability to meet business Standard Written Practice and Examination requirements and obtain approval.

Desired:

  • Proficiency in using construction management platforms such as OpenSpace for documentation.

Travel Requirements:

Travel to project sites may be required based on business needs.

Hours:

This is a non-exempt position, Monday through Friday, with a lunch break and two rest breaks. Eight hours per day are required, and additional occasional overtime may be necessary to meet business needs.

Physical Demands:

  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Jaeger (J1) vision annually.

  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, climb stairs, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
