Summary of Job Duties:The HR Specialist - Learning and Development is responsible for effectively developing, coordinating, presenting, and tracking employee training. This position assesses developmental needs to drive training initiatives and arranges suitable training solutions for employees. This position is governed by state and federal laws as well as agency and institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Public Administration, or a directly related field;

  • Three years of human resource experience.

(Other job-related education or experience may be substituted for all or parts of these basic requirements).

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Experience in employee training and development programs;

  • Experience working in Higher Education preferred;

  • Experience working with Workday.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Learning and Development:

  • Develop effective training programs utilizing a variety of media sources and modify training programs as needed;

  • Create assessment tools and evaluation processes; conduct follow-up studies on all completed training to evaluate and measure results;

  • Create and modify training materials (visual aids and presentations), as needed;

  • Maintain the employee-training database for in-person and online training;

  • Coordinate and track new employee orientation;

  • Act as a resource for assistance with Workday Learning;

  • Conduct surveys to identify employee-training needs;

  • Plan, organize, and order supplies for employee training programs.

Customer Service:

  • Assist customers (applicants, students, staff, and visitors) in-person, on the phone, or via written communications, e.g., emails, etc., with timely and accurate responses to their inquiries;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws; ability to interpret and apply applicable state and federal laws;

  • Ability to exercise and practice a high degree of discretion and to maintain confidential information;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential;

  • Proven presentation skills are to include proficiency with technology and virtual training platforms;

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite;

  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detail;

  • Experience with computer-based source management systems, such as Workday, preferred;

  • Ability to work independently.
