Description
The Office of the Queens County District Attorney (QDA) seeks a Trial Preparation Assistant (TPA)/Paralegal to support the Bureau Chief of the Crime Strategies & Intelligence Bureau (CSIB) which is responsible for gathering and analyzing crime data and intelligence to drive QDA's strategies on crime reduction and public safety. Members of CSIB work closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies (primarily the New York City Police Department), bureaus within QDA, and other stakeholders within the community to identify and study crime trends, groups, and individuals most responsible for driving crimes that impact our communities including violent crime, theft, fraud, and quality of life offenses. The TPA will work independently on creating data and intelligence reports for senior QDA staff; supporting the CSIB attorneys, investigators, and analysts; and will guide the flow of information between law enforcement, QDA bureaus, and CSIB. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Preferred Education and Qualification Requirements: Bachelor's Degree with an educational focus on criminal justice or related education and/or experience. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience as a paralegal, legal assistant or other work in the criminal justice field/and or intelligence analysis/data science. All candidates must have at least a high school diploma or its educational equivalent. TPA's must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to interact with attorneys, law enforcement, staff, witnesses and convicted persons and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing demands. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach, including strong follow-up skills, accuracy and the ability to meet deadlines; adhere to strict requirements regarding legal records management, data protection, and privacy/confidentiality; working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word and advanced Excel experience is also required.
