Position Summary: The Assembler II, Optics will be responsible for performing mechanical, optical lens, electronic, and general assembly tasks in a fast pace dynamic manufacturing environment. In this position strong attention to detail and experience with pneumatic tools and a general mechanical assembly aptitude is required. This position requires collaboration with internal team members, leads, and supervisors. FLSA: Non-exempt Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform quality inspections and recognize workmanship defects.
- Identify and correct lens debris, digs, or other lens aberrations.
- Operate torque tools, electric drivers, hand tools, and specialized optical equipment required to perform assembly tasks.
- Operate robotic equipment and adhesive dispensers.
- Perform soldiering and some electronic assembly processes.
- Adhere to company policies and guidelines.
- Read, interpret, and follow specific and highly detailed work instructions. Responsible for making suggestions for clarity and improvement.
- Collaborate with internal team members, leads, and supervisors.
- Discern micron size debris in optical systems.
- May train on limited processes.
- Engage in and actively volunteer for Continuous Improvement projects and tasks.
- Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
- Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
- Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
- May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
- May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Education/Experience & Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalent required, related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Typically requires 2-4 years of assembly experience, preferably in optical mechanical assembly.
- Experience with Optics handling and cleaning is preferred.
- Proficient in multiple SSEO manufacturing processes.
- Proficient at discerning micron size debris in optical systems.
- Must possess the ability to solder, certification is preferred.
- Possess an understanding and knowledge of electronics and ESD.
- Computer navigation and ERP system interface experience or knowledge a plus.
- Skilled with torque tools and a general understanding of torque tool operation and adjustment.
- Understanding of job routing sheets.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Able to follow written directions and work independently or as a member of a team.
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a team, with little supervision and be self-motivated with a strong work-ethic.
- Basic understanding and ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, in English, both verbally and in written form.
Working Conditions:
- Work is a blend of sitting and standing.
- The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing area where frequent standing, sitting, stooping, squatting, walking and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts, containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
- Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, be able to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery.
- Constant work with and clean lenses. Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and ability to focus.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
- Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
