The Department of Emergency Services is seeking to hire an intern for the Emergency Management Department.

This internship is expected to last up to 12 weeks, with a variable weekly schedule depending on projects, and provides opportunities for learning, growth, and career development in a hands-on, values-driven, team-based work environment.

The rate of pay is $17.00-$20.00 per hour, depending on qualifications.

Job Description

  • Assists with the development, review, and maintenance of emergency plans and procedures.

  • Supports the planning, execution, and evaluation of emergency exercises (tabletop, functional, or full-scale).

  • Conducts research and contributes to special projects and program initiatives.

  • Helps coordinate public outreach and community engagement activities, including preparedness campaigns.

  • Works with the team to update and improve emergency response resources and protocols.

  • Assists with Emergency Operations Center (EOC) operations, including support during emergency activations.

  • Participates in and supports emergency management trainings, meetings, and community events.

  • Assists in the preparation, formatting, and review of emergency management documents and materials.



Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; analytical skills, including research skills, ability to interpret data, ability to conceptualize, ability to analyze information, and ability to write formal recommendations based on finding.

Must successfully complete a background investigation.
