This is a UC San Diego Internal Recruitment open to UCSD and UCSD Health System Staff Only The Staff Pharmacist I/II, under general supervision, is responsible for provision and documentation of medications and medication-related services to patients, according to standards established by the Department of Pharmacy. The primary role of the Staff Pharmacist II in the Pharmacy Medication Access Clinic (PMAC) is the protocol-mediated processing of prescription renewals and prior authorization requests for Primary Care and Endocrine clinics at UC San Diego Health. The pharmacist will supervise pharmacy technicians in the quality review of prescription processing and perform final assessment and approval, denial, or re-routing of requests. Clinical and quality review with potential interventions is an expectation of the prescription renewal request workflow. The pharmacist may also assist pharmacy technicians in clinical assessment of prior authorization requests as needed and appropriate. Other roles may include value-based outcome laboratory monitoring, medication and lab order synchronization, pharmacy student and/or resident teaching and mentorship, training of new PMAC team members, and general clinical support for providers. Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Staff Pharmacy I or Staff Pharmacy II Level. Less than four (4) years experience qualifies as Staff Pharmacy I; Four (4) + years of experience qualifies as Staff Pharmacy II.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $183,139 - $186,834 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $87.71 - $89.48 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). | |
