Job Title: Field Engineer 3 Location(s): Birmingham, AL Position Overview We are seeking a Field Engineer 3 (Deskside Support Technician) to provide on-site technical support at a government location in the Birmingham, AL area. This role is ideal for early-career IT professionals with 1-3 years of hands-on support experience who are looking to grow in a structured enterprise environment. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting computer hardware, software, and basic network systems. This is a customer-facing role requiring professionalism and strong technical fundamentals. Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and support desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
- Perform hardware setup and basic hardware troubleshooting.
- Provide basic software troubleshooting and OS support.
- Reload and re-image PCs and laptops.
- Support low-end servers and network devices.
- Perform disk replacements on enterprise storage products.
- Complete installs, moves, adds, and changes (IMAC activities).
- Test and certify PCs, networks, servers, and approved applications.
- Document incidents and service requests in ticketing system.
- Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Provide professional, customer-focused technical support.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of computer support or desktop support experience.
- Hands-on experience with hardware setup and troubleshooting.
- Basic software troubleshooting skills.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow standard troubleshooting procedures.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must meet site-specific requirements (including vaccination compliance if applicable).
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA A+ Certification.
- Experience working in enterprise or government environments.
- Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.).
- Exposure to basic server and networking support.
Additional Details
- Contract role with potential for permanent conversion.
- Primarily non-driving role; occasional travel between nearby sites may be required.
- Professional appearance and demeanor required due to government site environment.
Shift
- Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
