Security Officer - Overnight Shelter Patrol

As a Security Officer - Overnight Shelter Patrol in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will conduct routine foot patrols, maintain a visible presence that helps to deter security-related incidents, and support access control and badge checks. You will communicate clearly with staff, residents, and visitors, document observations, and respond to situations with professionalism and care. What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities within a shelter location.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout interior common areas, exterior grounds, and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or property damage.
• Monitor access points, verify authorization for residents, staff, vendors, and visitors, and assist with maintaining orderly entry and exit during high-traffic periods.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including verbal de-escalation, documenting events, and contacting site leadership and/or emergency services when appropriate.
• Complete patrol logs and incident reports per Allied Universal and site requirements, communicate pertinent information during shift transitions, and report maintenance or operational concerns observed during rounds.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
• Have at least 1 year of security experience.
• Provide proof of a high school diploma and/or GED as required by the client.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
