Internal Auditor Location: Birmingham, AL Our client is seeking an Internal Auditor to support the organization by assessing the effectiveness of operations, controls, and systems. This role partners closely with management and the Board of Directors to deliver objective insights, practical recommendations, and risk focused evaluations that drive sound decision making and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Assess the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls to support efficient, well controlled business operations Partner with management and the Audit Committee by providing independent analysis, insights, and recommendations Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance controls, and promote cost effective practices Support the planning and execution of operational and financial audits, with an emphasis on IT systems and technology enabled processes within the Company's Private Business operations Develop clear, well organized audit documentation and communicate results professionally to stakeholders Collaborate with business and IT teams to evaluate risks, understand processes, and support remediation efforts Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field At least one year of experience in IT audit, IT risk, operational audit, or consulting Ability to work effectively with both technical and non technical stakeholders Comfortable working independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings clearly Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Technical aptitude and willingness to learn new systems, tools, and audit methodologies Preferred Experience Exposure to IT auditing or hands on experience in one or more of the following areas: Systems development life cycle and testing UNIX or Windows environments Databases such as DB2 or SQL Cybersecurity controls, including network devices and web application firewalls Experience using data analytics or reporting tools such as ACL, Cognos, Tableau, SQL, Excel, or Access Familiarity with SSAE 18 and SOC 2 reporting Professional certifications such as CIA, CFE, CPA, or CISA Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
