Typically M-F 9-5. However, overnight travel (up to ~1 week at a time) will be required to survey many of the National Forests in the project, and there is potential for long field days.

Duties/Responsibilities


Duties/Responsibilities
Field Preparation. Training in freshwater mussel identification, use of aquatic habitat monitoring equipment, and freshwater field survey methods.

Duties/Responsibilities
Field surveys / Data collection. Research technicians will work as a team to conduct field surveys for freshwater mussels in potentially rugged and remote parts of the Great Lakes region. Survey efforts will include traversing to remote streams, snorkeling, wading, aquatic organism identification, habitat data collection, assemblage data collection, and operation of non-motorized watercraft operation (canoes or kayaks), vehicles, and potentially U/ ATV.

Data entry and QA/QC. Routine entry and proofing of data collected from field surveys (i.e., mussel assemblage data, habitat data, and site pictures).
