Role

The Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Fairness team acts as a central contact point to assist various teams with the Investment Banking's M&A Advisory assignments. The M&A Fairness is team is looking for a Business Associate/Analyst to join the team.The Business Associate/Analyst position is a rewarding experience - one that provides an excellent foundation for individuals interested in developing investment banking and M&A product knowledge, understanding strategic decision-making and processes, and driving new initiatives.

Responsibilities

The Business Associate/Analyst will be a part of the M&A Fairness team, a small team within the M&A Group that assists with Investment Banking's M&A advisory assignments. The role involves:



  • Assisting with the management of various aspects of the internal and external processes related to (i) meetings of the Fairness Committee, which oversees material M&A transactions, (ii) delivery of fairness opinions (including related financial analyses) and (iii) public disclosure of Goldman Sachs' advice and analysis, including:

    • Organizing and attending Fairness Committee meetings
    • Reviewing fairness opinions and related financial analyses, board materials and disclosure documents/regulatory filings

  • Assisting the M&A Valuation Lead with review of financial analyses prepared in connection with transactions subject to review by the Fairness Committee
  • Assisting with the identification of AI related efficiencies for the fairness process
  • Assistance with the review of conflict-related disclosure letters
  • Analyzing M&A transactions from a legal and financial perspective, focusing on, among other things, transaction terms, structure and valuation methodologies
  • Advising IBD deal teams on relevant precedent M&A transactions and available M&A resources


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR



  • One to three years of related experience preferred
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • One or more years of corporate legal, consulting, accounting, investment banking or other M&A-related experience preferred
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Knowledge of valuation methodologies, business modelling, accounting and/or corporate finance preferred
  • Organized and highly motivated self-starter
  • Ability to focus on both the details and the bigger picture
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize as necessary
  • Very strong written and oral communications skills necessary
  • Dependable and detail oriented


Salary Range

The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $100000-$160000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
