Job Summary:

We are seeking a Laboratory Sciences Research Services Professional (Entry, Intermediate or Senior level) to join our supportive and collaborative team. This individual will conduct research focused on biochemical, cellular, and molecular mechanisms underlying gynecologic cancer progression and therapy resistance. The primary focus of experiments will include, but are not limited to, (1) studies of Golgi organization and mitotic spindle assembly in ovarian cancer, (2) in vitro and in vivo assays of cGAS/STING-dependent antitumor immunity, and (3) studies of tumor-adipocyte interactions and inflammation in the tumor microenvironment. The post-doctoral fellow will be supported through an already funded grant mechanism. Successful applicants will need to demonstrate a strong work ethic, to have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, to exhibit excellent skills in scientific writing, and to display meticulous, detail-oriented technical skills and record-keeping.

Regardless of rank, this laboratory science professional will be expected to perform duties in an experimental lab. Examples of duties:

  • Preparation of lab reagents
  • Use of a database to record supplies and inventory
  • Assistance with laboratory upkeep & maintenance
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Participation in lab meetings
  • Presentations at lab meetings and local conferences
  • Contributions to project development and help with manuscript preparation

Other research-related duties

* Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions

* Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects

* Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research

* Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting and communicating results

* Perform pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical test process and evaluate results produced

* Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas

* Provide animal care related to research studies, as necessary

* Pick up, transport, and maintain results, samples, documents, materials and other items as needed

* Dispose of laboratory materials and samples using well established guidelines and instructions

* Review, complete and process logs, documents, databases, and related materials and information

* Provide support researching issues and developing recommendations to resolve process, unit and related issues

* Assist in the review and implementation of lab support policies, practices and programs to meet organizational, operations and management needs

* Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; receive guidance and direction or escalate when required

* Other duties as assigned

Nature of work for Laboratory Sciences Research Intermediate Professional above duties AND:

* Independently and creatively identify laboratory solutions

* Independently Review, develop and implement new or modified laboratory techniques required for research projects

* Assist Team Leads, Supervisors and/or management with creation and implementation of processes and procedures and quality improvement initiatives

* Assist and train junior team members

Nature of work for Laboratory Sciences Research Senior Professional above duties AND:

* Assist with developing or develop protocol-specific systems and documents including process flows, training manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Maintains subject level documentation and prepares documents, equipment and/or supplies

* Assist with identifying issues related to operational efficiency and shares results with leadership

* Provide laboratory science expertise and leadership in study design, study oversight, data management, data analysis and manuscript preparation to assist all levels of investigators, researchers and clinicians on new research activities across a wide range of disciplines

* Serve as a resource to PIs and other stakeholders

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO .

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications - Entry Level

* Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field

o A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Minimum Qualifications - Intermediate Level

* Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field

o A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

* One (1) year professional level research experience

Minimum Qualifications - Senior Level

* Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field

o A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

* Two (2) years professional level research experience

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field

* Prior experience or background within an experimental or wet laboratory

* Prior understanding/knowledge of antiviral/antitumor signaling (e.g., cGAS-STING)

* Prior experience with adipocyte culture

* Prior experience with advanced cellular imaging techniques, including live-cell imaging

* Prior experience with small animal handling and in vivo tumor studies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques

* Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution

* Outstanding customer service skills

* Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology

* Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

Enty Level: $46,274 - $58,861

Intermediate Level: $50,357 - $64,054

Senior Level: $54,440 - $69,248

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
