Our client is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to play a pivotal role in managing critical data infrastructure. In this position, you will directly influence the stability, performance, and accessibility of essential database systems, ensuring seamless operations and empowering strategic decision-making across the enterprise.

**Responsibilities:**

* Administer and maintain robust database systems, utilizing advanced database management systems to organize and secure vital data.

* Collaborate with development teams and end-users to define application data access requirements, analyze transaction rates, and perform volume analysis to inform database design and maintenance.

* Design, implement, and coordinate physical changes to computer databases, applying deep knowledge of database management systems.

* Develop and implement logical and physical database designs, assessing the impact of changes on data storage, space allocation, and access methods.

* Establish and optimize physical database parameters, including memory allocation, to ensure peak performance.

* Define and manage user access permissions, controlling data insertion, replacement, retrieval, and deletion across various data segments.

* Conduct thorough testing, error correction, and refinement of database changes before deployment.

* Create and manage production databases, utilizing utility programs to monitor performance metrics such as record distribution and memory usage.

* Guide and collaborate with programmers and analysts on database management system modifications and program reviews.

* Provide expert support and answer user questions related to database functionality and access.

* Assess the impact of database changes on other systems and evaluate associated costs.

* Implement performance tuning strategies to optimize database programs and enhance processing efficiency.

* Potentially train users on database functionalities and best practices.

**Required Skills & Experience:**

* Proven expertise in mainframe database administration, including IMS and Db2 for z/OS.

* Demonstrated ability to administer, organize, and store data using database management systems.

* Experience in determining user requirements, setting up databases, and coordinating changes.

* Proficiency in designing logical and physical databases and understanding the impact of changes on physical data storage.

* Strong background in establishing and optimizing database parameters.

* Ability to specify and manage user access permissions for various data segments.

* Experience in testing, correcting errors, and refining database changes.

* Skilled in monitoring database performance and implementing performance tuning.

* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of specialty.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $54 to $60. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
