In this role, you will be the guardian of our enterprise databases, responsible for their health, performance, and security. You will work closely with development and end-user teams, translating business needs into powerful database solutions. Your expertise will ensure our data systems are not only efficient but also scalable and resilient, directly supporting our operational excellence and strategic growth.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Administer and maintain enterprise databases, ensuring optimal organization and storage of critical data.

* Collaborate with development and end-user personnel to gather and analyze application data access requirements, transaction rates, and volume.

* Design and implement logical and physical database structures, coordinating physical changes and applying deep knowledge of database management systems.

* Establish and configure physical database parameters, including memory allocation and access methods, to maximize performance.

* Code database descriptions and specify identifiers, or direct others in these tasks, for robust database integration.

* Define and manage user access permissions for data segments, ensuring data security and integrity.

* Conduct thorough testing, error correction, and refinement of database changes before and after deployment.

* Implement and monitor utility programs to track database performance, such as record distribution and memory utilization.

* Direct programmers and analysts in making necessary changes to the database management system and review program modifications.

* Provide expert support and answer user questions related to database functionality and access.

* Collaborate with co-workers to assess the impact of database changes on interconnected systems and associated costs.

* Proactively identify and implement performance tuning modifications to database programs to enhance processing efficiency.

**Must-Have Qualifications:**

* Bachelor's degree in a field of specialty (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline).

* Proven experience in database administration, with a focus on enterprise-level systems.

* Strong expertise in mainframe database technologies.

* Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and maintain complex database structures.

* Proficiency in coding database descriptions, managing parameters, and specifying user access.

* Experience with database performance monitoring and tuning.

* Ability to troubleshoot, test, and correct database errors effectively.

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
