Job Description

Elwyn seeks a Wellness Specialist who supports the safe and therapeutic medication administration specifically, Spravato treatment by providing direct observation, client support, and coordination of care during treatment sessions. This role is responsible for monitoring individuals throughout the observation period (2 hours), ensuring comfort, safety, and adherence to clinical protocols, while maintaining a calm, supportive environment. The Wellness Specialist partners with nursing and clinical staff to report client status, document observations, and respond promptly to client needs. This position plays a key role in enhancing the individuals' experience, promoting emotional reassurance, and supportive overall treatment effectiveness within a structured, recovery oriented behavioral health setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide continuous observation of patients during medication treatment, specifically Spravato treatment sessions, in accordance with established safety and regulatory protocols.
  • Monitor and record vital signs every 15 minutes throughout the observation period and promptly report any changes in condition, adverse reactions, or safety risks to Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Observe and document client status, including level of alertness, mood, physical stability, and any side effects of concerns.
  • Maintain a calm, supportive, and reassuring environment to help reduce anxiety and promote a positive treatment experience.
  • Assist with client flow, including preparing observation areas, orienting clients to the process, and supporting transitions into and out of treatment spaces.
  • Ensure clients remain compliant with observation requirements, including remaining seated/reclined and monitored for the full required observation period.
  • Collaborate with Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, administrative, and clinical staff to ensure safe, efficient operations and continuity of care.
  • Assist with the discharge process by confirming the observation period is complete, coordinating with staff, escorting patients to designated pick up areas, and reinforcing post-treatment instructions as directed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA standards at all times.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Open to candidates with hands on healthcare support experience, including CNAs, medical assistants, patient care technicians, medical technicians, EMTs, nursing students, or other entry level healthcare providers strongly desired.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or patient care setting preferred
  • Experience taking and documenting vital signs in a clinical or medical setting preferred
  • Ability to accurately obtain and document vital signs at regular 15 minute intervals
  • Strong observation skills with the ability to recognize and report changes in client condition
  • Basic computer skills and ability to document in an electronic health record system
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
