Position description

Junior/ Assistant Specialist - Sohal lab

The Sohal lab in the Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Junior or Assistant Specialist position. This individual will assist with research in the Sohal lab including both research and lab management activities. Research activities could include mouse behavioral assays combined with physiological recordings and/or optogenetics, stereotactic survival surgeries, perfusions, and histology/microscopy. Lab management tasks include mouse colony management / genotyping / husbandry, ordering supplies, and ensuring

protocol compliance.

Required Qualifications:

* Junior Specialist - Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at

least four years of research experience.

* Assistant Specialist - Master's degree, or a baccalaureate degree with 3

or more years of research experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with mouse behavioral assays combined with physiological recordings and/or optogenetics, stereotactic survival surgeries, perfusions, and histology/microscopy, and lab management tasks including mouse colony management / genotyping / husbandry, ordering supplies, and ensuring protocol compliance.
