The Nail Technician is responsible for assisting the Podiatrist, evaluating and providing treatment to patients, and documenting.

Job Relationships

Reports to the Operations Manager.

Principal Responsibilities



  • Perform trimming and debridement of toenails on patients with myocotic nails.
  • Rule out contra-indications to treatment and recommend necessary changes.
  • Monitor the effects of treatment and modify techniques to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Verbally report progress or changes in the patient's condition to the Podiatrist.
  • Communicate professionally in person or by telephone.
  • Provide patient/family education and reinforce all patient teaching.
  • Document progress report in medical record.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain daily attendance records in compliance with billing standards.
  • Accurately complete encounters and maintain record of treatment given.
  • Assist providers in clinic as needed including outreach locations.
  • Maintain clean, neat, orderly work environment.
  • Economically utilize supplies.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.


Education/Experience



  • Graduate of an accredited nail technician program.


Licenses/Certificates



  • Current Licensed Nail Technician (LNT) or Licensed Professional Cosmetologist (LPC) through the State of Illinois.
  • Must be MediNail-Advanced Technologist (M-ANT) Certified through the Medinail Learning Center (MLC). If hired prior to 08/01/2020, must obtain M-ANT by 12/31/2020.
  • Current CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines.


Working Environment



  • Operates in a professional office environment.
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
