ABOUT THE ROLE

The Quality Control Technician I is responsible for performing inspections, testing, and documentation to ensure precast concrete products meet PCI standards and project design specifications. This role supports quality assurance throughout the production process, including pre-pour, post-pour, and material testing activities. The Quality Control Technician works closely with production teams to identify issues, ensure compliance, and maintain high-quality and safe product outcomes.

Salary range $25.50-$27.00 an hour. Based on experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO



  • Perform pre-pour inspections including dimensions, reinforcement placement, strand location, and form quality
  • Conduct post-pour inspections of finished precast concrete products
  • Perform wet and hardened concrete testing including slump, temperature, air content, unit weight, and cylinder strength
  • Prepare and test concrete specimens to verify compliance with strength requirements
  • Conduct aggregate gradation and sieve analysis testing
  • Monitor and document cable tensioning processes and record elongation data
  • Maintain accurate and complete quality control records and documentation
  • Identify, document, and communicate quality issues to production teams for resolution
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures during inspections and testing
  • Support additional quality control tasks and special projects as assigned

They are comfortable performing hands-on testing and inspections while following strict procedures and documentation standards. This individual is a strong team player who communicates effectively with production and quality teams and is committed to ensuring all products meet or exceed required specifications.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE



  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong attention to detail with basic math and measurement skills (including tape measure use)
  • Ability to read and interpret production drawings and pour sheets
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with teams
  • Understanding of safety procedures in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to perform accurate testing and follow standardized procedures
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage documentation accurately
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced production environment


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors year-round
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
