The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Department of Surgery is looking for a Variable Hour Officer. Incumbent will lead and facilitate a key program dedicated to supporting newly diagnosed pancreatic cancer patients and their caregivers.

Responsibilities



  • Provide a safe, compassionate space for patients, family members, and caregivers to share experiences, concerns, and emotional support.
  • Facilitate open discussion, peer connection, and mutual encouragement among participants during monthly meetings.
  • Coordinate and host guest speakers to offer expert insight and address topics relevant to patients and caregivers.
  • Research, curate, and share trusted information and resources on pancreatic cancer treatment, emotional coping, and wellness.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalency in education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Training and experience in patient-centered care, psychosocial support, or group facilitation.
  • Strong knowledge of pancreatic cancer care, treatment processes, and patient/caregiver needs.
  • Ability to lead virtual support groups with empathy, professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
  • PhD degree.
