Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Tactical Patrol in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol a public-facing location, conduct routine rounds, remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and support access control and badge checks as needed. You will respond to concerns, document activity, and communicate clearly with site contacts and visitors. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to site employees, visitors, and/or the public by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Carry and maintain assigned firearm and related equipment in accordance with licensing requirements, post orders, and Allied Universal policies, and document all required checks and activities.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Respond to alarms, calls for service, and/or critical incidents in a calm, problem-solving manner; provide clear directions, coordinate notifications, and complete accurate reports.
  • Monitor access points, verify identification and/or credentials as required, control vehicle and pedestrian entry, and maintain logs for visitors, deliveries, and other site activity.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have at least 1 year of armed security-related, law enforcement, and/or military experience.
  • Have at least 1 year of law enforcement experience or 2 or more years of security supervisor and/or manager experience or 3 or more years of security experience.
  • An armed guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
