Description The Director, Supply Chain Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for hospital and system-wide supply chain functions, including inventory management, distribution, logistics, receiving, and operations. This role ensures the efficient, cost-effective, and reliable flow of supplies to support patient care and organizational performance. The Director develops and implements operational strategies that drive service excellence, financial stewardship, and regulatory compliance. Serving as a key partner to clinical, administrative, and vendor stakeholders, the Director drives operational excellence, implements data-driven improvements, leads complex projects, advances technology, and develops strategic distribution solutions to advance departmental, organizational, and mission-driven goals.
Qualifications Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree (Required)
Master's Degree (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience
10 years Progressively responsible experience in Supply Chain operations in healthcare or a similarly complex organization (Required)
5 years Management experience in Supply Chain in healthcare or a similarly complex organization (Required)

Functional Accountabilities
Operational Leadership and Distribution Strategy
  • Oversees day-to-day supply chain operations across hospital, ambulatory sites, and support facilities, with particular focus on distribution and operations efficiency and optimization.
  • Develops and executes strategic distribution initiatives to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of supplies across multiple locations.
  • Establishes and executes supply resiliency plans to mitigate risks, maintain continuity of operations, and ensure preparedness for emergencies or disruptions.
  • Standardizes processes and leverages best practices to enhance reliability, scalability, and responsiveness of the supply chain.
  • Initiates and leads complex projects to implement innovative solutions that advance operational excellence, staff productivity, and distribution performance.
Strategic Execution and Continuous Improvement
  • Develops and optimizes the hospital and system-wide distribution strategy and supply chain operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, vendor partnerships, and operational capabilities.
  • Translates enterprise supply chain strategy into actionable operational initiatives and measurable outcomes.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs and performance dashboards to track distribution and supply chain operations, identify bottlenecks, and drive continuous process improvements that enhance productivity, customer service, and cost efficiency.
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts, incorporating Lean, Six Sigma, and other process excellence methodologies to optimize workflows, staff efficiency, and supply continuity.
Financial and Budget Oversight
  • Develops and manages the departmental operating budgets.
  • Identifies and drives cost reduction and resource optimization initiatives, particularly through supply management, distribution efficiencies and process standardization.
  • Partners with key stakeholders and the VP of Supply Chain to evaluate operational investments, productivity metrics, and ROI.

People Leadership and Development

  • Leads a diverse, multi-location team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Provides mentorship, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities to strengthen team capability and engagement.
  • Ensures workforce planning supports operational and strategic distribution needs.

Vendor and Partner Collaboration

  • Collaborates closely with Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, and Contracting teams to ensure alignment with vendor agreements, contract compliance, and value analysis initiatives.
  • Partners with clinical leaders and department stakeholders to align supply chain operations and distribution strategies with clinical needs, patient care priorities, and operational efficiency.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with external suppliers, distributors, and logistics partners to ensure reliability, quality, and value of goods and services.
  • Works collaboratively with vendor partners to implement innovative solutions, optimize supply chain performance, and support cost reduction and productivity initiatives.
  • Serves as a key liaison between operations, clinical and administrative leadership, and external partners to ensure smooth coordination, responsiveness to changing needs, and continuous improvement of supply delivery and service levels.
Technology and Innovation
  • Champions adoption and optimization of advanced supply chain and ERP technologies to enhance distribution management, inventory visibility, and operational efficiency.
  • Drives implementation of point-of-use solutions that improve supply availability, reduce waste, and integrate seamlessly with clinical workflows and staff operations.
  • Leads digital transformation initiatives across multiple sites to increase end-to-end supply chain visibility, streamline processes, and enhance responsiveness.
  • Evaluates and implements emerging technologies and innovative solutions to optimize distribution, inventory allocation, and resource utilization while supporting organizational goals and clinical priorities.
