DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Purchasing Agent 1, serving the needs of District 6-0 and the County, engages in comprehensive purchasing activities that encompass the meticulous examination of requisitions, the formulation of bid documents, the assessment and awarding of bids, as well as the drafting of contracts and purchase orders. This role is executed in strict adherence to the purchasing policies and procedures established by the Department, alongside the relevant regulations and laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The position necessitates effective communication with various stakeholders, including requisitioners, receivers, vendors, district office fiscal and purchasing personnel, the Comptroller's Office, and the Office of Chief Counsel. In this capacity, you are expected to provide exemplary and courteous customer service, foster collaboration among team members, propose enhancements to existing processes, and advocate for a safe and productive work environment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
  • Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
