How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region: This Business Systems Analyst 2 role presents a dynamic opportunity to significantly contribute to Metro Transit's operational efficiency during a key technological evolution. Initially, you will leverage your analytical skills to provide robust support for our existing legacy ERP system as it undergoes a planned decommissioning and retirement. Over the subsequent 2-3 years, your focus will strategically transition to the implementation and support of a new Council-wide Asset Management system (HxGN). Upon full deployment, this role will become an integral part of the Metro Transit Asset Management team, playing a crucial role in optimizing and ensuring the effective utilization of these critical tools. This position offers a unique platform to apply and expand your expertise in both legacy system management and modern enterprise asset management solutions.

What you would do in this job
-
- This role will work closely with the lead Business Systems Analyst and will take work direction from them but will also have the expectation to work independently as tasks dictate.
- Serve as a key resource for the support and configuration management of Metro Transit's legacy ERP system during its wind-down phase, including:
- Managing user access, security roles, and complex user setups.
- Overseeing and performing system configurations and modifications to meet evolving business needs.
- Analyzing and resolving complex data integrity issues and developing reports.
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive user documentation and system support guides.
- Assist in troubleshooting efforts for complex issues within the legacy ERP system, performing root cause analysis and collaborating with senior technical staff and vendors to design, test, and implement lasting solutions.
- Play a role in the planning, design, and implementation activities for the transition to the new HxGN asset management system. This includes:
- Participating in system design and configuration workshops.
- Assisting with data mapping, validation, and migration strategies.
- Act as a liaison between department end-users, technical analysts, IT, and vendors for both the legacy ERP and the new asset management system. Clearly articulate business needs and translate them into technical requirements and vice-versa.
- Analyze existing business processes and workflows related to procurement, finance, inventory, asset, and maintenance management; identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions in the context of both current and future systems.
- Contribute to defining the future state of asset management system use at Metro Transit, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement comprehensive test plans for business and functional processes during system development, upgrades, and quality assurance testing for both systems.
- Participate in smaller projects or defined workstreams within the larger ERP retirement and asset management implementation initiatives.
- Perform other related analytical and system support duties as assigned.

What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)

Any of the following combinations of experience (in system administration, management analysis, related analytical or equivalent experience) and completed education in Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Geographic Information Science or related field.
- High School Diploma or GED; AND Seven (7) years of experience.
- Associate's degree AND Five (5) years of experience.
- Bachelor's degree or higher AND three (3) years of experience.
What additional skills and experience would be helpful in this job (desired qualifications):
- Knowledge of administrating/managing a large/complex systems/application.
- Ability to work with SQL and data query tools.
- Strong systems thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Comfort with permissions, roles, and basic configuration.
- Ability to collaborate as the technical liaison to all departmental staff and with other departments, personnel, and enterprise support groups.
- Ability to identify technical system upstream/downstream impacts.
What knowledge, skills and abilities you should have within the first six (6) months on the job:
- Understanding of integration concepts (REST APIs, events, middleware, batch syncs).
- Ability to analyze complex workflows and translate them into system configuration.

- Experience with SaaS platforms (CRM systems preferred like Salesforce, Dynamics, Zendesk, Zoho, HubSpot, etc.).
- Ability to read API docs and data models well enough to identify impacts.
- Experience working closely with vendors and/or implementation partners.
- Writing clear technical requirements and test scenarios.
- Experience with change management, UAT, and go live activities.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills; able to advocate for both riders and technical staff.
- Strong skills in process mapping, documentation, and data/metrics thinking.
- Knowledge of data integration, interface management, and software lifecycle processes.
- Ability to be the first line of support and remediation within department for technology inquiries from staff and errors generated by departmental and enterprise systems and technology.

Work Environment: Work is performed in a standard office setting. May require travel between primary work site to other sites.
