What you will be doing:

The Co-op position in the Biometrics and Real-World Analytics department offers an exciting opportunity to provide hands-on experience in analyzing and interpreting data derived from biometric systems and real-world evidence (RWE). The role will bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that data-driven insights are effectively translated into actionable strategies and solutions.

  • Autogenerate TFL code
    • The task involves leveraging AI tools and techniques to automate the generation of Tables, Figures, and Listings (TFLs) for biometric data analysis. This process is critical for summarizing and presenting biometric data in a structured and visually interpretable format.

*Real World Analytics: Validate Data Analysis Plan (DAP) and Create SAS Codes from Statistical Programming Plan (SPP)

  • This assignment focuses on validating the Data Analysis Plan (DAP) and creating SAS codes based on the Statistical Programming Plan (SPP) to ensure accurate and efficient analysis of real-world evidence data.
  • Process Optimization:
    • This initiative focuses on optimizing process across multiple vendor contractors. Identifying pain points in current workflows and propose process improvements.

1. Business Requirements Elicitation and Document

  • Responsibilities:
    • Work with internal stakeholders to gather and document business requirements for projects involving biometrics and RWE.
    • Translate business needs into technical specifications for the development team.
    • Conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement.
  • Deliverables:
    • Detailed business requirement documents (BRDs) and process flow diagrams.
    • Meeting notes and summaries from stakeholder discussions.
  • Timeline:
    • Initial requirements gathering during the first month, with updates as projects progress.
  • Interactions:
    • Regular meetings with internal stakeholders, including product managers, business leaders, and technical teams.

2. Project Support and Coordination

  • Responsibilities:
    • Assist in managing project timelines, deliverables, and milestones for biometric and RWE initiatives.
    • Track project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
    • Identify and address potential risks or roadblocks in project execution.
  • Deliverables:
    • Project plans, status reports, and risk assessments.
    • Documentation of project milestones and outcomes.
  • Timeline:
    • Ongoing, with specific deadlines tied to project phases.
  • Interactions:
    • Work closely with project managers, team leads, and external vendors (if applicable).

3.Process Improvement and Innovation

  • Responsibilities:
    • Identify inefficiencies in current workflows and propose process improvements.
    • Support the implementation of new tools, systems, or methodologies to enhance data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Deliverables:
    • Process improvement proposals and implementation plans.
    • Documentation of new workflows and training materials for team members.
  • Timeline:
    • Mid to late internship, depending on project scope and complexity.
  • Interactions:
    • Work with process owners, IT teams, and end-users to implement and refine solutions.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future. Please note that Vertex does not provide sponsorship for internships or entry level roles within this part of the organization.
  • You must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before December 2026
  • You must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from July - December 2026

Program Details:

  • Full-time, paid co-op $20.00 - 35.00 USD/hour
  • Program Dates: July - December 2026

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
