This role provides a variety of clerical support duties, including opening, tracking, processing, and closing case files. We Require
Two years of general clerical/administrative experience High school diploma or GED A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
Previous work experience in a law office, court, criminal justice, or indigent defense setting Experience working with court or legal records
Job Contributions
Uses a computer to access and update case management systems (JuNe) Answers inquiries and assists internal and external customers with electronic or physical case files or records requests, either in person or by telephone Sorts or classifies information according to guidelines such as content, purpose, user criteria, or chronological, alphabetical, or numerical order Pulls files upon request Prepares files/documents for scanning, then scans and indexes documents Obtains information from courts and staff to update case files, court calendars, and case management systems Transports and destroys (shreds) case files Boxes and marks files for long-term storage
Working Conditions
All work is performed in an office environment The position requires the ability to work with traumatic subject matter (crime scenes, accidents, etc.) and work in an environment with frequent interruptions, time pressures, high volumes of work, handling multiple or complicated tasks, unscheduled tasks, frequently changing tasks, accuracy, decision making, concentration/vigilance, teamwork, working in close physical proximity with others, and public contact Must be able to lift, carry, or push up to 35 pounds for 200-300 feet Work requires travel to and from job-related locations during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used on County business
