Position Summary Columbia University Medical Center is seeking a detail-oriented finance professional to join its Facilities Management Finance Team. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, this role supports a broad and complex departmental budget portfolio spanning multiple distinct business lines. A major component of this position is the tracking, reconciliation, and analysis of departmental expenses, recoveries and revenues to ensure proper management reporting and audit support can take place. The role requires interaction with external consultants and internal partners across multiple departments who rely on accurate and timely financial information. Accuracy, responsiveness, and strong attention to detail are critical to success in this role, along with the ability to quickly develop an understanding of departmental budget structure, cost drivers, internal reporting systems (Power BI and the related datasets that feed into it) and an understanding of the context in which reporting information will be used. The successful candidate must be able to professionally represent the department in an accurate manner and communicate information in a concise manner. Responsibilities The incumbent will assist with processing budget transactions in Columbia's financial systems; compiling, maintaining, and validating financial and utility-related reports and reconciliations; maintaining back-up schedules such as off campus space rentals, Risk Management Insurance Claims and NYP Utility billing; processing payments to vendors as needed in a timely and accurate manner; and reviewing, correcting, and documenting financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with established deadlines. Assist in the preparation of periodic accrual schedules as part of the financial close. Responsibilities include preparing reports and reconciliations on both a recurring and ad hoc basis, including daily, weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews. Assignments require managing large datasets, maintaining organized records, and producing consistent, repeatable results. The position requires timely, accurate communication of financial and utility information and the exercise of sound judgment when interpreting and presenting data. The role operates in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where priorities may shift quickly. In addition to all of the above, the position will support ad hoc analyses and special projects as they arise, often requiring quick turnaround, responsiveness, and strong attention to detail.
