INVISTA is seeking a Technical Manager to lead technical excellence at our Seaford, Delaware facility-one of the original nylon manufacturing sites. This role has direct accountability for technical talent, process capability, product quality and technology direction, with a clear mandate to improve performance and long-term competitiveness.

Our Team

The Technical Manager leads a diverse technical group consisting of process engineers, a quality manager, and a control systems engineer. The team collaborates closely with reliability engineers specializing in mechanical, electrical, and high voltage systems. The Technical Manager will work alongside site leadership and project teams, fostering collaboration and development across the organization. The Seaford plant holds a rich industrial legacy and has renewed and reinvented itself many times to remain a globally competitive supplier since being the world's first nylon plant. The site primarily supports INVISTA's nylon fibers business, producing it's Nylon 6,6 staple fiber.

What You Will Do

  • Cultivate high-performing, empowered teams. Champion, and apply our Principle Based Management (PBM) Framework to harness INVISTA's competitive advantage: our Culture. Lead with a shared vision, align the organizational direction, and enable high-performing, technically curious, empowered teams to create superior business results.
  • Focus on Talent Development: Develop and enable a team of engineers and key operations resources to create the breadth and depth of technical knowledge, critical and economic thinking, teaming and execution skills to deliver predictable performance of high-quality products.
  • Key member of Site Leadership Team: Contribute to overall advancement of the site vision by collaborating with SLT partners and driving transformation
  • Own the site's technical direction. Collaborate with global technology resources to define and execute a clear technical roadmap-modernizing equipment, improving reliability, and strengthening process capability to deliver long term safe, predictable, high-quality production with improving efficiency.
  • Partner for Business Impact: Collaborate with commercial and functional leaders aligning strategies to business priorities and objectives, delivering measurable results
  • Manage Portfolio of Projects: Discern priorities, manage WIP and apply comparative advantage to maximize the project delivery "flow-to-done"
  • Enable Continuous Improvement: Apply lean concepts, create effective systems, enabling people to act, succeed and contribute through a bottom-up solution philosophy.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or closely related technical field
  • Experience in manufacturing
  • Experience in leadership
  • Demonstrated experience implementing change within an organization
  • Proven track record of creating high-performance teams.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 7+ years experience in manufacturing
  • Experience of Nylon 6.6, yarn spinning, crimping & baling technology.
  • Previous experience and knowledge applying LEAN manufacturing principles
  • Project/program management experience
  • Mechanical, Chemical engineering degree
