Overview/Position Summary:

The Manager of Safety & Risk's role is responsible for providing operational and analytical support in the strategic development of GMR's Safety Management program. This role will be responsible for the planning, implementation and on-going management of all risk and insurance related matters within the organization to ensure optimal coverage and structure in accordance with the company's risk appetite.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

* Effectively manage direct report(s) in their duties, while accomplishing expectations of this manager role.

* Analyze and identify opportunities to enhance the auto, general, professional and workers' compensation safety programs, and lead the implementation of the programs.

* Responsible for the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures to optimize productivity, effectiveness and support for current risk management best practices and company's risk tolerance.

* Design, draft, and coordinate risk assessment reports that clearly articulate operational risks and controls in accordance with the insurance program.

* Assess, develop and implement compliant Occupational Safety programs with Local, State and Federal regulations.

* Provide the necessary support for all employees at GMR to succeed in their safety objectives. Create training plans to ensure development, strength and integrity of the group.

* Develop a program of safety accountability for all levels of the organization.

* Establish, review and make appropriate adjustments to the operational policies and procedures to enhance environmental health and safety.

* Conduct safety inspection audits each month, ensuring that state and federal requirements are met and maintained.

* Establish and maintain occupational safety training programs for all levels of the company such as New Hire Orientation, Forklift, First Aid/CPR, AED and Bloodborne Pathogens, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, Emergency Planning and others as needed.

* Establish and maintain company and OSHA standards for personal protective equipment.

* Set protocols for investigations for incidents, accidents and near misses then ensure solutions are communicated.

* Compiles and submits reports required by company management, regulatory agencies and insurance companies.

* Engage in all aspects of corporate risk management including analysis and implementation of financial risk and strategic initiatives.

* Develop and manage risk management operational budgets and monitor their performance to determine variances between budgets, standard costs and actual costs incurred.

* Develop, implement and maintain Safety Promotion Programs.

* Maintain liaison with local, state and federal agencies.

* Ensures the highest levels of Occupational Safety, emergency preparedness, and quality leadership through implementation and management of aggressive compliance, restoration, ISO compliance, and conservation.

* Provides Occupational Safety support for design, construction, operations, and maintenance, including support for plans, permits, reports, site assessment/remediation, and other documents for construction projects to ensure compliance with requirements.

* Promote continuous process improvements program to evaluate and ensure compliance with all safety policies, standards and regulations to achieve world-class performance.

* Evaluate safety, risks and impacts of activities and establish objectives.

* Manage safety records and information inspections and audits, and accident/incident investigations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution; Masters Preferred

Experience:

* Must have at least three years relevant experience with an Organization providing Professional Safety Services.

* Ability to work independently.

Other Knowledge & Skills:

* Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, Occupational Safety and health, or Industrial safety from an accredited four-year college or University is preferred

* Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA and ADA

* Skilled in the use of personal computers and associated word-processing, spreadsheet and database software

* Ability to write reports and business correspondence

* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees

* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
